Roundabout project begins at Jefferson Park and Middle Roads in Prince George County

RICHMOND – Motorists are advised that construction equipment and project signs are being installed near Jefferson Park and Middle roads in Prince George County as the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), and its contractor, are starting a roundabout project at the intersection.

Work will require a long-term detour as soon as Nov. 6 with specific passenger vehicle and commercial/large truck routes. Passenger vehicle drivers should use Route 156 (Prince George Drive) as the signed detour route. Large truck motorists should use the posted detour along Route 106 (Courthouse Road), Route 10 (James River Drive), and Route 36 (Winston Churchill Drive/Oaklawn Boulevard). Drivers should follow their respective signed detour routes.

The purpose of this project is to improve safety and operations at this intersection by constructing a single-lane roundabout, along with drainage and lighting improvements. The nearly $8 million project is estimated for completion during Summer 2027, weather permitting. A design public hearing was held on Sept. 11, 2024.
